Moving house with kids: how to make moving day less stressful
Updated 17 September 2026

Moving house with kids is louder than a couple’s move. The crew still needs a clear path. The children still need lunch, chargers and something familiar at the other end. This is how we see the families who do it with less stress.
The night before, with toddlers in the house
- One bag per child: clothes, medication, dummy, charger, snack, favourite toy. That bag stays with you, not on the truck.
- Sleep in made beds. We take beds apart in the morning, or you do it the night before if the kids can handle a mattress on the floor.
- Park for a 28 m³ truck as close to the door as you can.
- Tell us on the estimate if you have a cot, high chair or lots of small plastic furniture — it is light but slow if it is loose.
Moving day
If you can, one adult on kids and one on the crew. We work faster when the hallway is empty. A grandparent, a park, or a screen in a closed room beats children on the stairs while furniture is coming down.
We load room by room. Point us at the kids’ room last at pickup and first at delivery if you want beds up before the rest of the house. That is a normal ask. What removalists do includes putting beds back together.
At the new house
Have snacks and the kettle accessible. If you prepped the new place — power on, fridge running, path from truck to door — the first hour is calmer. Prepare the new house before you move in.
Book a month ahead and take $50 off. Call 0467 017 141 or send the estimate. We have moved plenty of Sydney and Central Coast families with two kids and a dog. Dedicated truck. No other freight.
Common questions
How do you make moving house with kids less stressful?
